Safety Update - Jump! Splash! Fun!
A Message About Safety from Jump! Splash! Fun!
Recent news regarding a tragic incident involving a backyard water slide in Hidalgo County has understandably raised questions among parents about inflatable safety and setup procedures. At Jump! Splash! Fun!, we are deeply saddened by this news, and we want to take this opportunity to reassure our customers about the strict safety protocols we follow for every single rental.
When you trust us with your family's entertainment, your safety is our absolute highest priority. Here is a clear breakdown of how our trained team ensures a secure and worry-free environment in your backyard.
The Sandbag Standard for Bounce Houses and Combos
For the vast majority of our rentals—including all of our standard bounce houses and bounce house slide combos—we do not use deep metal ground stakes for structural anchoring.
Instead, we utilize a heavy-duty sandbag system. This method securely anchors the inflatable to the ground while completely eliminating the hidden dangers of driving long stakes into the earth, such as accidentally striking buried electrical, gas, or water lines. To keep the protective ground tarp flat and prevent tripping hazards, we only use small, 7-inch pegs that do not go deep enough to interact with underground utilities.
Our Transition to Sandbags for Heavy Water Slides
Well before this recent tragedy occurred, we had already begun actively transitioning away from traditional ground stakes for our largest and heaviest standalone water slides. As part of our ongoing commitment to proactive safety, we are upgrading to our heavy-duty sandbag anchoring system for these massive units to ensure high-wind stability while keeping the ground beneath undisturbed.
We now only utilize deep ground stakes if the specific setup area is deemed absolutely safe to do so. Because we know the severe risks of hitting underground utilities, we will never guess or rely on "feel" when securing these units. In the event that deep staking is necessary for your rental, we strictly follow state law by requiring an 811 Utility Locate request prior to setup. This free service ensures that all public underground lines are clearly marked by utility companies before our team ever swings a hammer.

We don't just talk about safety—we are formally trained in it. Jump! Splash! Fun! CTX LLC is proud to be a certified member of SIOTO (the Safe Inflatable Operators Training Organization).
